BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Exam 2026 Syllabus & Exam Pattern

Preliminary Examination (objective, 2 hours):
• General Studies — 150 questions, 150 marks: general science, current events of national & international importance, history of Bihar & India, geography of Bihar & India, Indian polity & economy, changes in the economy of Bihar post-independence, and elementary mental ability

Main Examination (descriptive):
• General Hindi — 100 marks (qualifying, 30% required)
• General Studies Paper I — 300 marks (modern history of India & Indian culture with special reference to Bihar, current national & international affairs, statistical analysis)
• General Studies Paper II — 300 marks (Indian & Bihar polity, Indian & Bihar economy and geography, role of science & technology)
• Essay — 300 marks
• Optional subject — qualifying (MCQ-based)

Interview: 120 marks. Final merit: Mains (900) + Interview (120).
